Holiday Popsicle stick crafts
One of the most versatile ways to recycle Popsicle sticks is to create holiday decorations that you can save and use year after year. Even when the kids are grown, they are sure to love seeing their homemade decoration on the tree or as a holiday centerpiece. For Halloween, glue Popsicle sticks in a line, and then paint them orange for the perfect jack-o-lantern. No feast is complete without your very own Thanksgiving turkey. Get an empty plastic cup, turn it upside-down and draw a turkey face on the front. Then color each Popsicle stick a different color, and tape them on the back in a fan layout. You now have a picture-perfect centerpiece. During Christmas, let your children make their own Rudolf by forming a ‘V’ with two Popsicle sticks and then putting one stick over the top. Glue a red dot on the bottom of the ‘V’ and two eyes on either side. Then add antlers on top for everyone’s favorite reindeer.
Whatever you choose to make, your Popsicle stick craft is a unique and sentimental item because you and your kids made it together. Bring all these crafts out during the holidays to celebrate everyone’s individual originality.
