Festive Thanksgiving Crafts

Festive Thanksgiving crafts are a great way to express how grateful you are for your own existence and others. Create these crafts and use them to decorate your home, office or business. They make others smile and bring positive energy to any atmosphere. Here are a few crafts to make your next Thanksgiving more festive.

Easy harvest decorations

There are plenty of simple do-it-yourself decorations for you to make. Try garlands with multi-colored corn and hang them over the doorways. All you need is floral wire, scissors, cobs and raffia. Simply lay the cobs on the raffia about ten inches apart then take some scissors and cut the floral wire long enough to tie around the husk and the raffia. Continue this until it is long enough to drape the doorway. The corn should fall vertically when you get ready to put it up. Some heavy-duty thumbtacks secure the garland if you have no hooks in place. Also, placing some pumpkins or some wax potato corns and leaves down the stairs looks very beautiful and festive. These easy creations pack a big, colorful punch!

Personalized turkey signs

Nothing says Thanksgiving like a turkey! Go to your neighborhood craft store and purchase three poster boards, 12 rulers, glue, scissors and some markers. Using your home computer, internet and printer/copier, download a coloring picture of a turkey. After copying this picture 12 times, glue it on your poster board. Next, you want to carefully color the poster boards with your markers and then cut out all the shapes of the turkeys. Finally, take the ruler, color it and glue it to the turkey. Pass these out to your neighbors, family members and friends to put in their yards. This is a great activity for kids. On the back of the board, include a note that says, "I am thankful for you."

There are many ways to get festive during Thanksgiving to promote the good cheer and feelings that the season brings. By letting your imagination run free, the spirit of the holidays is within your reach.
